Fresh applesauce in no time, no fuss
Just like proper applesauce — fresh and sweet from the apple, not from sugar. My boyfriend always plays taste-tester and he was an immediate fan.
1. Wash the apples thoroughly and don't peel them (unless you really want to). Remove the core and stem and cut them into large pieces. Puree the apples with an immersion blender and add small splashes of plant-based milk until it reaches the desired thickness. It may sound odd to put milk in your applesauce, but you really can't taste it! You can also use a little water if you prefer.
2. Now add maple syrup and cinnamon to taste, and a very small amount of lemon juice. Mix everything briefly. Your fresh applesauce is ready! Fancy a refreshing apple breakfast? Stir in the chia seeds and raisins and put it in the fridge for about 4 hours. I really like it on a cracker with peanut butter.

This applesauce is great as a quick snack, as a topping on a cracker with peanut butter, or as a healthy breakfast. Add chia seeds and raisins and refrigerate for a few hours to make it a filling apple breakfast.
Preferably use sweet-tart apples such as Gala, so you need little to no maple syrup. That keeps your applesauce as natural and healthy as possible. The plant-based milk gives a lovely creamy texture without altering the flavor.
