Bananen ijslolly met chocolade en noten

On hot days there's nothing I enjoy more than an ice cream—provided it's waiting in my freezer. I still haven't found a good sugar-free or dairy-free ice cream sold ready-made, even though it's actually so easy to make. You can already find fruit ice pops on the site, but this banana ice pop with chocolate and nuts, or with coconut, tastes completely different.

Recipe

Banana ice pop with chocolate and nuts

On warm days I love nothing more than an ice cream, but only if it’s already in my freezer. Luckily this is a super easy recipe!

Course Dessert, snack
Kitchen American
Servings For 4 ice pops

Preparation time

Preparation time 15 min
Stiffen up min. 2 hours
Cooling time 1 hour 0 min
Total 1 hour 15 min

Equipment

  • Long skewers such as wooden chopsticks. These make it easy to stand the pops in a glass or cup while the chocolate sets.

Ingredients

  • 1 large banana
  • 50 grams dark chocolate
  • 2 handfuls of almonds
  • optional two tablespoons shredded coconut, if you want a coconut variation

Banana ice pop with chocolate and nuts

    1. Cut the banana into 4 equal pieces and insert a stick into each piece.
    2. Melt the chocolate au bain-marie (in a bowl over hot water) and dip the banana pieces in it.
    3. Place the bananas in a freezer-safe container or glass so they stand upright. Make sure the bananas do not touch each other.
    4. Chop the nuts as finely as possible and spread them over a cutting board or plate. Then gently roll the chocolate-covered bananas through the chopped nuts, making sure the whole ice pop is covered in nuts.
    5. Put the pops back in the glass and place them in the freezer. Let them harden for a few hours and take them out about 5 minutes before serving to come to the right temperature. Enjoy!

These banana ice pops are a delicious and healthy alternative to regular ice cream. The combination of sweet banana, dark chocolate and crunchy almonds makes for an irresistible treat. Perfect as a snack on a warm day or as a festive dessert for young and old.

Want to add an extra flavor dimension? Try the coconut version by rolling the chocolate bananas through shredded coconut after the nuts. You can also make the pops ahead of time and store them in the freezer for a few days, so you'll always have a tasty treat on hand.
