Flavorful marinade with lime, garlic and herbs for the BBQ
When we fire up the BBQ I'm always really happy when there are shrimp too: if they're cooked well I absolutely love them. I adore it when they have that nice bite! Of course you can dip them in a sauce, but I actually prefer marinating them.
1. Squeeze the garlic and lime and mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Instead of Tabasco you could also use a fresh, finely chopped red chili pepper.
2. Put the shrimp in the marinade and mix everything well. There's no fixed time for how long to let it soak, but in practice the longer it sits, the more the flavours sink in and the tastier it gets. You can therefore make the marinade a day in advance and let the shrimp rest in a covered container in the fridge. Stir occasionally so the flavours distribute evenly.
3. Grill briefly on the BBQ and you're done. Yum!

Want the flavours to be even more intense? Make the marinade a day ahead and keep the shrimp covered in the fridge. Stir occasionally so everything soaks in well.
Don't have a barbecue? You can also cook the marinated shrimp in a grill pan on the stove. Fry them briefly over high heat for a nice grilled result.
