Anti griep drank

Winter is the season of colds, flu and generally low resistance. You know the scene: everyone at the office is sniffling and the person opposite you keeps coughing non-stop. It's important to keep your immunity up by getting enough vitamins. So even though dark, cold weather often calls for comfort food, autumn and winter are the seasons to eat healthily. Notice your resistance is a little shaky or that you don't feel very fit? Make this anti-flu drink. It gives you that extra boost, exactly when you need it!

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Tea glass with handle

Ingredients

  • 1 liter water
  • 1 piece ginger, about 5 cm
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 5 to 7 sage leaves

How to make the anti-flu drink?

    1. Put the water in a pan. Wash the ginger and slice it into rounds or smaller pieces. You don't need to peel it. Add it to the water.
    2. Add the cinnamon sticks as well. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze one half into the water, then slice the other half and add the slices. Add the sage too. Bring to a boil, then let simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat. When the drink has cooled slightly, add the honey.
    3. You can safely store the drink in the refrigerator for a few days. Make sure to keep it in a covered pan or bottle stored. You can drink it cold or warm it up.

This anti-flu drink is not only nice when you're ill, but also just as a warming drink on a cold day. The combination of ginger, cinnamon, lemon and sage provides a warming and refreshing feeling. You can keep the drink in the refrigerator for several days and serve it warm or cold as desired.

Always add the honey only after the drink has cooled slightly so its beneficial properties are preserved. Feel free to experiment with a bit more ginger or lemon if you prefer a stronger flavor. Serve the drink in a large mug for maximum enjoyment.
