The Riedel Riesling Wine Glasses Veloce are perfect for balancing the high acidity of fruity wines. The mould of the chalice helps balance the fresh characters and high minerals of fruity wines. Allowing sufficient oxygen to enter the chalice activates the fruity flavors. Also, the mould of the chalice ensures the perfect distribution of the wine in the mouth. Are these wine glasses dishwasher-safe?

Riedel Veloce glasses are made of ultra-thin crystal glass — which requires a bit more care when cleaning. Crystal glass is best washed by hand in warm water with a mild dish soap. Then gently dry the glasses with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent spots and scratches. That way you preserve the clear shine and the thin bowl shape for as long as possible.

How many glasses are in the set and what is the capacity?

The set contains 2 wine glasses, each with a capacity of 570 ml. That's generous enough for a good pour of wine and leaves enough space in the bowl so oxygen can do its work — which directly affects how the wine expresses itself.

Which grape varieties and wine styles are these glasses best suited for?

The Veloce Riesling is specially designed for fruit-forward wines with high acidity. Think of white wines such as Riesling, but other fruity white grape varieties also suit this bowl shape well. The bowl shape balances fresh characters and minerality and distributes the wine optimally across the mouth. Important: the glass is also suitable for certain fruit-forward red wines, provided they're made from fruity grape varieties.

Are these glasses suitable for red wine as well?

Yes, the Riedel Veloce Riesling is multifunctional: the glass works not only for white wine but also for red wine — as long as they're fruit-forward grape varieties. The bowl shape activates the fruity flavors because enough oxygen can enter the bowl, and that principle applies to several wine styles.

How should I handle ultra-thin crystal glass?

Ultra-thin crystal glass is light and delicate, and that calls for a no-nonsense approach when using and storing it: • Hold the stem when pouring and carrying, not the bowl — this prevents fingerprints and damage. • Store the glasses upright or hang them upside down on a glass rack, so the thin rim doesn't get damaged. • Avoid sudden temperature changes: don't put ice-cold or boiling-hot liquids in the glass. • Wash by hand in lukewarm water with a mild dish soap and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Crystal glass of this calibre is thin and lightweight, which enhances the drinking experience.
