Cut the orange into slices about half a centimeter thick. Set aside.
Put the bock beer in a saucepan together with the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, brown sugar and half of the orange slices.
Warm the beer over low heat. Do not let it boil, because then the alcohol will evaporate and you'll lose the flavor of the beer. Keep the temperature around 70°C.
Let the mixture steep gently for 10 minutes so the spices can do their work. Stir occasionally and gently.
Add the honey and stir until it is fully dissolved. Taste and add more honey if you prefer it a bit sweeter.
Strain the beer to remove the spices and orange slices.
Pour the warm mulled beer into glasses and garnish each glass with a fresh orange slice and optionally a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately and enjoy together.
