The Riesling glass is perfect for balancing the high acidity and residual sugar of fruity white wines. This mould is the most versatile white wine glass in the Riedel-range, but also works well for some red wines, such as Zinfandel. It helps to balance the fresh characters and high mineral components and highlights the wonderful fruit aromas.

Can I wash this wine glass in the dishwasher?

Hand washing is the best choice for this glass. The Riedel Superleggero-glas has an extremely thin wall and drinking rim — that's what makes it so special, but also vulnerable to the heat and mechanical stress of a dishwasher. Wash the glass with warm water and a mild dish soap, rinse thoroughly and dry carefully with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Is this glass also suitable for white wines other than Riesling?

Yes, certainly. The slim bowl of this glass is specially designed for Riesling, but it works just as well for other fresh, aromatic white wines. Think Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Gris or Mosel-style wines — wines with lively acidity, minerality and pronounced aromas. The bowl shape brings those characteristics nicely into balance.

How many glasses are included in the packaging?

The package contains 1 Riedel Riesling Wijnglas Superleggero. If you want multiple glasses, simply order the desired quantity. The glass has a capacity of 400 ml.

What makes the Superleggero glass different from a regular wine glass?

The main difference is weight and wall thickness. Superleggero literally means 'superlight' — the glass is machine-blown with an exceptionally thin wall and drinking rim. That thin rim ensures the wine reaches your taste buds as directly as possible, without interference from a thick glass edge. The result is a pure, unfiltered taste experience that you don't perceive as strongly with a standard wine glass.

How should I store this glass to keep it in good condition for a long time?

Store the glass upright or hang it upside down in a glass rack so the drinking rim doesn't bear pressure. Stacking or storing with heavy objects on top is not recommended due to the thin wall. When wiping, always use a soft, lint-free cloth and hold the glass by the bowl — not just the stem — for optimal balance while drying. Riedel recommends hand washing for this glass.
