Geroosterde kikkererwten

You know that moment when you’re sitting on the couch in the evening watching a movie and suddenly crave something tasty? If you open a bag of chips or grab a chocolate bar from the cupboard, your body usually isn’t too happy about it. Of course it can happen once in a while, but it’s much better to have a healthy alternative ready. Like roasted chickpeas. They’re super tasty and packed with good nutrients. No more unhealthy snacking with this little recipe.

Recipe

Roasted Chickpeas

I used chickpeas from a jar, but you can also use dried chickpeas. If so, make sure to soak them for about 12 hours beforehand.

Roasted Chickpeas Recipe for a Healthy Snack

    1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F)
    2. Drain the (organic) chickpeas and rinse them under the tap in a sieve until no more foam comes off. Pat the chickpeas dry.
    3. Put them in a bowl and toss with the organic extra vierge olijfolie, paprika powder, ground cumin and garlic powder. Then spread the chickpeas over a baking sheet lined with baking paper or use a bakmat.
    4. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the chickpeas and put them in the oven. Stir them after 20 minutes and let them bake for another 10 minutes (30 minutes total). Note: baking time and temperature can vary greatly by oven, so keep an eye on them.
    5. Let cool briefly.
    6. Serve in a small bowl and enjoy! A glass of sparkling water with lemon on the side? Completely healthy.

Roasted chickpeas are a deliciously crunchy and healthy alternative to chips or other salty snacks. They’re easy to make and full of flavor thanks to the combination of paprika, cumin and garlic.

Store the cooled chickpeas in an open bowl or a loosely closed container so they stay crispy. They’re best eaten the same day, but are still good to eat the next day.
