FAQ
Can I put the Bormioli Rocco Fido preserving jar in the dishwasher?
Yes, the Bormioli Rocco Fido preserving jar is dishwasher-safe — convenient for everyday use. Note: remove the metal closure before putting the jar in the dishwasher. That metal clamp can be damaged if it goes in the dishwasher. You can simply wash the glass part in the dishwasher.
Is the metal closure also replaceable or available separately?
The set contains two complete preserving jars including metal closures. Bormioli Rocco sells replacement rubbers and closures separately — useful if you’ve been using preserving jars for a while and want to replace a closure. If in doubt, check the product page or contact our customer service for the correct size for this ø 16 cm jar.
How many jars are in this set and what are the exact dimensions?
This set contains 2 Bormioli Rocco Fido preserving jars. Both jars have the following dimensions: • Diameter (outside): ø 16 cm • Opening diameter: ø 9 cm • Capacity: 4 liters per jar That makes them suitable for large quantities of pasta, legumes, grains or other dry or liquid foods.
Is the jar also suitable for canning in a water bath?
The Bormioli Rocco Fido is primarily designed as an airtight storage jar for everyday kitchen use — think dry goods, vegetables, fruit or juice. The glass is high-quality and sturdy, but the product information describes it as a storage jar, not specifically as a canning jar for heating in a water bath. For traditional canning (where the jar is heated), we recommend consulting the official Bormioli Rocco instructions for this specific model.
What is best to store in this preserving jar?
The Fido preserving jar is airtight, so it keeps a wide range of foods fresh. Suitable items include: • Dry pasta (spaghetti, macaroni, farfalle) • Sweets and snacks • Fruit and vegetables • Fruit juice The airtight lid prevents odors and helps the contents stay fresh longer. The opening has a diameter of 9 cm.
It arrived very quickly. All six jars were packed very carefully with lots of packaging to make sure that there was no damage. Very impressed with the diligence and care and professionalism of how it was all presented and delivered to me to make sure it arrived intact.
Ik ben heel blij met deze potjes: ze maken mijn keuken een stuk overzichtelijker en doordat ze vierkant zijn ipv rond kan ik mijn beperkte kastruimte goed benutten :)
