Slowjuice recept met wortel, gember en citroen

Last summer I welcomed a slow juicer into my kitchen and it proved to be a wonderful addition. Since then I've tried a whole range of different juices and, of course, I've been diligently noting the blends that taste best. Especially in winter I notice my body benefits from the extra vegetables I add to the slow juices. This recipe, which I've affectionately nicknamed the 'Mean Orange Baby', is one big vitamin-packed treat.

Slowjuice recipe with carrot, ginger and lemon

The flavor is so tasty, so full, pure and smooth. It's also great that you can use a lot of vegetables you wouldn't normally snack on. A vitamin bomb!

Equipment

  • Slow juicer
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Jug or bottle

Ingredients

  • 500 g carrots
  • 3 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 pear
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • a thumb-sized piece of ginger
  • half a lemon
  • optional: 1 teaspoon wheatgrass powder or fresh wheatgrass

Slowjuice recipe with carrot, ginger and lemon

    1. Remove the cores from the pear and apples and the seeds/core from the bell pepper. 'Peel' the ginger and cut off the outer skin of the lemon.
    2. Then put all the vegetables and fruit into the slow juicer one by one until you have a large jug of juice. Covered with cling film or stored in a separate bottle, this slow juice can be kept until the next day.

This slow juice with carrot, ginger and lemon is a lovely way to pack a lot of vegetables and fruit into a single glass. The ginger gives a spicy kick, while the apples and pear provide natural sweetness. Perfect as a healthy breakfast or snack.

You can store the juice covered until the next day, so you can also make it ahead. Optionally add a teaspoon of wheatgrass powder for an extra nutrient boost. Feel free to experiment with the quantities to suit your own taste.
