That shape allows the earthy, dark fruit flavors of a Syrah or Mourvèdre to fully open up. This glass is specially designed for full-bodied, powerful red wines. The unique bowl shape brings out the best of the typical earthy and fruity flavours of, among others: • Syrah / Shiraz • Sangiovese • Barbera • Tempranillo • Mencía • Mourvèdre • Grenache • Rioja The bowl shape is intentionally different from a standard wine glass — that’s not by accident, but the reason this glass works so well for these grape varieties.

What is the capacity of this wine glass and how large is it?

The Riedel Winewings Syrah wine glass has a capacity of 865 ml. That is generous — deliberately so, because a large glass gives the wine room to breathe and release its aromas properly. Of course you never fill the glass to the top; the usual pour for red wine is about one third of the glass.

Is this Riedel wine glass dishwasher safe?

Riedel Winewings glasses are made from ultra‑thin crystal glass. Crystal is generally vulnerable to high temperatures, powerful water jets and prolonged contact with aggressive dishwasher detergents. To keep your glasses in top condition, we recommend washing them by hand — with warm water and a soft cloth. This preserves the glass’s shine and keeps the thin wall undamaged.
