FAQ

How do I take good care of my WoodWick scented candle so I can enjoy it for as long as possible?

A few simple habits make a real difference. Here's how to get the most out of your WoodWick candle: • Trim the wick before each lighting to about 3–5 mm. A wooden wick tends to split or char — trimming ensures a clean, even flame. • Let the candle burn long enough the first time — at least until the entire surface has melted. This prevents tunneling in the wax. • Keep the candle out of drafts and avoid direct sunlight. This preserves both the scent and the color of the wax. • Stop burning when about 1 cm of wax remains at the bottom of the glass. The candle has an approximate burn time of 50 hours.

Can I reuse the glass jar of the WoodWick candle after the candle has finished?

Yes, the glass is great for reuse — think of it as a jar for pens, small plants, or kitchen utensils. To remove the remaining wax: • Place the glass in the freezer for a short time (about 1–2 hours). The wax will contract and loosen from the sides. • Carefully remove the wax residue and the wick holder with a spoon or spatula. • Clean the glass with warm water and dish soap. The glass has a diameter of ø 10 cm and a height of 18 cm.

Is the WoodWick Hinoki Dahlia candle suitable to be left burning unattended?

No — and that applies to any burning candle. Never leave a burning WoodWick candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Always place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface — the glass may become hot while burning. The candle has an approximate burn time of 50 hours when used correctly.

How strong is the scent of this candle in a typical living space?

The WoodWick Large is a large-format candle (18 cm high, ø 10 cm) with substantial scent throw. The Hinoki Dahlia fragrance is built in three layers: • Top notes: plum, blackcurrant, elderberry, and elemi — fresh and fruity when first lit. • Heart notes: jasmine, dahlia, and iris — floral and full-bodied when the candle is burning well. • Base notes: hinoki, sandalwood, cashmere, and amber — warm and long-lasting. The Large format is designed by WoodWick for larger rooms such as a living room or open-plan kitchen.

What is the difference between a wooden wick and a regular cotton wick?

A wooden wick behaves differently than a classic cotton wick, and you'll notice it immediately: • Sound: a wooden wick crackles softly as it burns — that soothing sound is characteristic of WoodWick and evokes a fireplace. • Flame: the flame is wider and flatter than with a cotton wick, which creates a more even melt pool in the wax. • Maintenance: a wooden wick needs to be trimmed more often (before each lighting) to burn properly — a cotton wick usually requires this less frequently. The WoodWick Hinoki Dahlia Large has an approximate burn time of 50 hours.
