How do I make my WoodWick candle burn for as long as possible?

A few smart habits help you get the most from your candle: • First burn: for the first use, let the candle burn long enough for the entire wax surface to become liquid. This prevents tunnelling in the middle of the candle. • Trim the wick: trim the wooden wick before each subsequent lighting to about 3–5 mm. This gives a cleaner flame and a better crackling sound. • Burn time per session: do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time for best results. With proper use you will get the full burn time of approximately 90 hours from this candle.

How do I light a wooden wick properly?

Lighting a wooden wick is a bit different than a cotton wick — but once you know how, it's simple: • Hold the flame horizontally along the wick, not directly above it. This helps the wood catch more easily. • Give the flame a moment: a wooden wick sometimes needs a few extra seconds. • Make sure the wick is short enough (±3–5 mm) and free of hardened wax or ash from a previous burn. Is the wick too long or is there leftover ash? Trim it first before lighting.

Is the glass of the candle reusable after use?

Yes, the glass jar is perfectly reusable once the candle is finished. Here’s how to clean it: • Carefully pour out any remaining liquid wax or let the glass cool slightly and remove the remaining wax with a butter knife. • Then wash the jar with warm water and dish soap. • Let it dry thoroughly before repurposing — consider using it as a small vase, an herb pot for the kitchen, or another decorative item. The glass has a diameter of ø 10 cm and a height of 11 cm.

What surface should I place this candle on?

Always place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. This is not only safe, it also protects your furniture and tabletop: • Use a candle plate, saucer, or coaster made of ceramic, metal, or stone. • Avoid surfaces of plastic, wood, or other flammable materials directly under the glass. • Keep the candle away from drafts, curtains, and other combustible materials. The glass jar can get hot while burning, so a heat-resistant surface is always wise.

When is it time to dispose of the candle?

A candle also has an endpoint — and it's good to know so you can use it safely: • Stop burning when there is about 1–1.5 cm of wax left at the bottom of the glass. Otherwise the glass can get too hot and crack. • If the flame becomes low and unstable, the candle is also effectively finished. • For the WoodWick Cinnamon Chai the total burn time is approximately 90 hours — after that it has done its job. After use you can clean the empty glass jar and reuse it as a decorative object.
