FAQ

Is this cutlery dishwasher-safe?

Yes, the Sola Hollands Glad cutlery set is fully dishwasher-safe. This is due to the material composition: 18/10 stainless steel, an alloy of 18 parts chromium steel and 10 parts nickel. That combination makes the cutlery rust-resistant and able to withstand the dishwasher process. Tip for keeping the cutlery looking its best: remove it from the machine as soon as possible after the wash and avoid leaving it in damp conditions for too long. This helps preserve the shine.

How do I care for this cutlery so it stays looking great for a long time?

Good news: 18/10 stainless steel is one of the most low-maintenance materials for cutlery. A few practical guidelines: • Dishwasher: this set is dishwasher-safe, so daily use in the dishwasher is fine. • Dry immediately: remove the cutlery after washing and dry it right away to prevent water spots. • No abrasive cleaners: do not use steel wool or harsh scouring pads; these will damage the surface. • Storage: store the cutlery dry and preferably in a cutlery tray or pouch to avoid scratches. Thanks to the stainless alloy, this cutlery naturally requires little maintenance.

For how many people is this set suitable and which cutlery pieces are included?

This set is fully equipped for 8 people and contains 70 pieces in total. Per person you get the following items: • Dinner knife, dinner fork and dinner spoon • Dessert knife, dessert fork and dessert spoon • Coffee spoon • Cake fork The set also includes serving utensils for the table: • 2 x serving spoon • 1 x sauce spoon • 1 x salad spoon • 1 x salad fork • 1 x cake server With this assortment you can fully cover both an everyday meal and an elaborate dinner.

Is this cutlery suitable for contact with acidic foods, such as citrus or vinegar?

18/10 stainless steel is a robust alloy that holds up well against most foods, including acidic dishes like citrus dressings or vinegar marinades. The 10% nickel in the alloy provides extra corrosion resistance, so the cutlery is unlikely to discolor or be affected quickly when in contact with acids. That said: rinse the cutlery after contact with strongly acidic substances (for example, prolonged soaking in vinegar). Leaving it unwashed for long periods can eventually affect the shine. For normal everyday use with acidic foods, 18/10 stainless steel is an excellent choice.

Can I purchase individual pieces later to supplement this set?

The Sola Hollands Glad series is a permanent collection within the Sola assortment. That means you can in principle order individual items from the same line — think extra coffee spoons or dinner knives — as long as the series remains available. Cookinglife offers multiple Sola Hollands Glad products. Check the current assortment on the product pages to see which individual pieces are available.
