How is it Sambonet specifications made?

Every household has its own cutlery parts in the drawer, but how are they made? And how does the difference in mouldand color? To explain this we look at the production process of Sambonet cutlery.

Cutlery is manufactured from steel. Here there can be differences between the alloys that are used. The numbers 18/10 or 13/0 indicate how many parts of chromium and how many parts of nickel are used in the composition. For this, the first number represents chromium and the second number represents nickel. The cutlery from Sambonet is made of 18/10 stainless steel. This type of steel is used for normal cutlery as well as coated and silver-plated cutlery. The process of making the cutlery silver-plated or coated is described later.

The production process

To make loose knives, forks and spoons in order to produce spoons, we start with a large steel plate. From this steel plate, individual pieces of steel are pressed by machine. This is done by means of punches that are placed in a powerful machine.

From here, the individual cutlery parts are machined into finished products. To shape the products, several steps are repeated. For example, steel plates are rolled to create the correct thickness. In the case of a fork, the teeth are not cut out until later.

Cutlery processing

Now that each plate has its product shape, the products are being personalized to series/product level. The shaping of these loose parts is done with the help of specific molds. There is its own shaped mold for each product.

These molds consist of two sides, so that the metal plate is danced. This gives the product its actual form. In addition to its shape, the product characteristics of Sambonet changed. These are different per series, so that each product now falls under its own series.

Polishing Sambonet Cutlery

The individual parts now each have their own shape. To make the product tangible and presentable, the products are polished. First, the outdoor sides of the cutlery are polished. By always going to a finer grain, the parts are made completely smooth. These mechanical actions are performed by large machines that must be perfectly adjusted. The parts here are also provided with a shiny or matte appearance.

PVD and Silver plated Sambonet Cutlery

To create silver -plated and coated cutlery, the cutlery is provided with an extra layer. At PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) a colored layer is applied to the parts. This resistant top layer is applied by means of vapor deposits. The big advantage is that one PVD coating is durable and durable.

Another way to give cutlery an exclusive and rich appearance is to apply a silver top layer. The specifications are immersed in a bath. Silver particles are applied to the cutlery via electric current. The cashing technique that Sambonet Applied, ensures twice as thick low hardness than with traditional silver -plated cutlery.
