With the wine glasses from the collection Riedel you get real high quality glasses in the house. The wine glasses are made of ultra-thin crystal glass which is very light. The Riedel Shiraz Wine Glasses Extreme are perfect for balancing the gripping tannins and concentrated fruit typical of medium-bodied red wines.

The mould of the glass was developed between 1993 and 1995 following sensory workshops in the main regions where Shiraz is grown, and is the most versatile mould for red wine in the Riedel range. With a slightly conical opening, the large bowl intense aromas, dignified structure, and a long sweet finish on the palate.

Are these wine glasses dishwasher safe?

Crystal glass is delicate — especially when it's as ultra-thin as these Riedel glasses. Preferably wash them by hand with warm water and a mild dish soap. This preserves the crystal's clarity and prevents micro-scratches that can make the glass cloudy over time.

How many glasses are in the set?

This set contains 2 Riedel Shiraz wine glasses, each holding 700 ml. A nice choice for an evening for two.

Is this glass only suitable for Shiraz, or can you serve other red wines in it as well?

The name Shiraz refers to the shape of the glass, not a limitation on its use. In fact, this is the most versatile shape for red wine in the entire Riedel range. The large bowl and slightly conical opening work excellently for red wines with a medium body and concentrated fruit — so it's suitable for other varieties with similar characteristics.

How do I best store these wine glasses?

Store the glasses upright in a dry, dust-free environment — preferably in a closed cabinet. Never stack them, because the ultra-thin crystal glass is more fragile than standard glass. Keep them separate from each other or wrap them in soft material when storing after use.

What makes crystal glass different from regular glass when tasting wine?

Crystal glass is thinner, lighter and has a finer rim than standard glass. That thin rim makes the wine flow more smoothly onto your tongue, which affects your taste perception. Positief is de lage prijs. Het zijn an sich goede glazen. Maar ze zijn zwaar en de steel heeft een lichte naad. Daarom heb ik gekozen voor de duurdere Riedel Veloce.
