Riedel has been making glasses tailored to specific grape varieties for decades, and I notice it immediately when I pour a Pinot Noir. The large, generous bowl of this piece gives the wine room to open up, so those typical fruity aromas of a Burgundian Pinot come through beautifully. The ultra-thin crystal means I hardly feel the glass and the wine stays front and center, just as it should. Four glasses for the price of three is also simply a smart deal when I have guests over or want to expand my set.
