Suitable for any hob, in the oven and on the barbecue — this pan can be used anywhere
Much lighter than cast iron, so easy to lift when full
After braising, you can simply put it in the dishwasher
Forget the eternal dilemma between a heavy cast iron pot and a fragile ceramic dish: the Emile Henry Ceramic Casserole Sublime+ Grand Cru combines the best of both worlds in one pot that can be used everywhere, looks great, and can go straight to the table when the food is ready - no transferring, no excuses.
Emile Henry has been making ceramics in Burgundy for generations, and the Sublime+ is their answer to a simple question: how do you make a pot that really works everywhere? Induction, gas, ceramic, halogen, electric - check. Oven up to 290 °C - check. Barbecue - also check. And afterwards, just pop it in the dishwasher. This is no compromise; this is simply a smart pot.
The big difference with a regular oven dish: the Sublime+ heats up quickly and evenly. You first sear your meat or vegetables nicely on the hob - beautifully browned, that crust that creates flavour - and then slide the pot straight into the oven. No intermediate step, no extra washing up, no loss of those delicious browned bits at the bottom. The heat spreads evenly through the Flame ceramic, meaning your dish cooks evenly without burning at the edges while the middle is still raw.
With a capacity of 5.5 litres and a diameter of 26.5 cm, there's room for a whole chicken with vegetables, a Burgundy stew for six people, or a large layer of lasagne. And with its soft curves and deep Grand Cru red colour, you can place it straight on the table - because this is a pot to be proud of.
Slow cooking is all about moisture and patience. The lid of the Sublime+ has small dimples on the inside that capture the condensation that rises during cooking and drip it evenly back onto your dish. It's as if the pot self-bastes. The result: meat that falls apart in the right way, sauces that are deeper in flavour, and vegetables that are tender but not mushy. You do less, the pot does more.
The glaze on the inside is natural, acid-resistant, and has natural non-stick properties. Tomato dishes, wine in the sauce, lemon juice - it doesn't matter to the pot. And you don't have to use wooden spoons if you don't want to: metal kitchen utensils can be used without worry.
💡 Cookinglife Tip: Always start your stew on medium heat on the hob to sear your meat, then lower the heat and place the lid on for the first 15 minutes before moving the pot to the oven. That extra step ensures a deeper, richer base flavour in your stew - the pot holds that heat perfectly.
Emile Henry has been producing its ceramics for over 170 years in Marcigny, in the French Burgundy - a region that knows good food. The Flame ceramic used for the Sublime+ is a proprietary development: stronger than standard earthenware, better resistant to temperature shocks, and optimised for use on all heat sources including induction. That's not just marketing; that's craftsmanship.
The 5-year warranty is no empty promise: this is a pot that lasts, one you can pass on to the next generation when you're done with it - or simply keep using because it still works as well after five years as it did on day one. That's what quality means.
The Emile Henry Sublime+ Grand Cru is the casserole for those who take cooking seriously but don't want the hassle: versatile, strong, beautiful, and honestly made. Add it to your kitchen and discover for yourself how good slow cooking can taste.
