What does our expert say?

Wine Specialist

Storing wine after opening is something many people underestimate, because oxygen is the enemy of an opened bottle. This product simply pumps that oxygen out, and the click tells you exactly when the bottle is properly sealed. I personally always use a pump like this when I don't finish a bottle in one evening, and the difference in taste after a day or two is really noticeable. Storing for up to ten days is realistic if you do this consistently, especially with still wines. The dishwasher-safe stoppers are a nice practical detail that saves you time in the long run.

About Vacu Vin

FAQ

For which types of wine can I use this wine pump?

The Vacu Vin Wine Saver works for all still wines — think red, white and rosé wine. One thing to know: the pump is not suitable for sparkling wines or champagne, because those are under pressure and require a different seal.

Are the wine stoppers dishwasher-safe?

Yes, the included wine stoppers are dishwasher-safe. You can simply put them in the dishwasher after use.

How many wine stoppers are in the set and how do I know the bottle is properly vacuum sealed?

The set consists of the wine pump itself and 2 wine stoppers. That way you can seal two open bottles airtight at the same time. Want to know if the bottle is properly vacuum sealed? It's simple: you hear a click while pumping. At that moment the oxygen has been removed from the bottle and the bottle is vacuum sealed.

Can I also put the wine pump itself in the dishwasher?

The product information indicates that the wine stoppers are dishwasher-safe. This does not apply to the wine pump itself — wipe the pump with a damp cloth to keep it in good condition.

How long does wine stay good after I seal the bottle with this pump?

By pumping the oxygen out of the bottle, you significantly slow the oxidation process. Wine sealed with the Vacu Vin Wine Saver stays good for up to 10 days after opening, provided you store the bottle in the refrigerator.
