Do I need to season the pan before using it?

Yes — and it's well worth it. Before you cook in it for the first time, you should season the pan — this creates the foundation for carbon steel's natural non-stick properties. Here's how: • Rub the pan with a thin layer of oil or beef tallow. • Heat it slowly until it starts to smoke lightly. • Repeat this two or three times. The more you use the pan afterward, the stronger the patina becomes and the better the pan performs.

How do I clean the pan after use?

Carbon steel requires a different approach than a typical pan — but it's simple once you know how. • Let the pan cool down a little after cooking. • Wipe it clean with a dry cloth or a sheet of kitchen paper. • Then rub it with a thin layer of oil to prevent rust. Do not use soap or the dishwasher: that will damage the built-up patina and you'll have to start over.

Is this pan suitable for induction?

Can I use the pan in the oven as well?

Yes, the Mineral B Crêpepan is oven-safe. You can slide it straight from the stovetop into the oven when needed. Note: the wooden handle is intended to stay cool during stovetop cooking. When using the oven, keep in mind the maximum temperature safe for wood, and use oven mitts when removing it from the oven.

Does this pan have a non-stick coating and is that a problem?

No, this pan does not have a non-stick coating — and that's actually an advantage. The Mineral B Crêpepan is 100% PTFE- and PFAS-free: no artificial coating, no harmful substances. Instead, the carbon steel builds up a natural patina with every use. That layer becomes stronger over time and means your crêpes and pancakes will stick less and less. A pan with a non-stick coating wears out over time; carbon steel lasts a lifetime.
