FAQ

How should I clean the bowls to protect the reactive glaze?

The bowls are dishwasher-safe, but a few precautions will keep them looking good for longer: • Let the bowls cool completely before placing them in the dishwasher. • Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool — they can damage the reactive glaze. • A regular dish sponge with a mild dish soap is always a fine alternative. The bowls are dishwasher-safe and made of stoneware.

How can I prevent cracks caused by temperature changes during use?

Stoneware is sturdy but does not like sudden temperature changes. Use the bowls safely like this: • Allow a cold bowl to come to room temperature before placing it in the oven or microwave. • Let a hot bowl cool down gradually before washing it or placing it on a cold surface. • Avoid going directly from frozen or ice-cold to high temperatures. The bowls are oven-safe up to 180 °C and microwave-safe.

Are the bowls suitable for use in the freezer?

Do not store the bowls in the freezer. The abrupt temperature change from frozen to oven or microwave increases the risk of cracking in the stoneware. The bowls are suitable for the oven (up to 180 °C), the microwave and the dishwasher.

What is reactive glaze and what does that mean for the appearance of the bowls?

Reactive glaze is a glazing technique where the glaze reacts to heat during firing. This produces subtle variations in color and texture, so each bowl looks slightly different. This is an intentional part of the design: it gives the tableware a crafted, handmade appearance. Small color differences between the four bowls in the set are normal and part of the design of the Saisons-collectie.

Are the bowls suitable for use on a stovetop or induction hob?

No — the bowls are not intended for use on a stovetop or induction hob. Stoneware is suitable for the oven and the microwave, but not for direct contact with a heat source such as a gas or electric stove. The bowls are oven-safe up to 180 °C and microwave-safe.
