For this dish I put a small twist on the classic caprese salad, which is traditionally served with (buffalo) mozzarella. I went with burrata instead: similar to mozzarella, but much creamier and softer. Burrata (Italian for 'buttery') is a combination of mozzarella and cream. The outside is firm, while the inside is wonderfully soft. From 15 June, Lidl carries Italiamo products — a range of delicious Italian specialities that includes a particularly good burrata. Paired with their organic tomatoes and fresh basil (from one of those little potted plants), this is a dish you'll want to lick your fingers clean after.

For this recipe, use the very best ingredients you can find. Ripe, organic tomatoes and a fresh ball of burrata truly make all the difference. A generous pour of high-quality olive oil is the finishing touch that brings it all together.
Serve this salad as a starter or a light lunch, ideally alongside some crusty bread to mop up the creamy burrata and the juices from the tomatoes. Enjoy!
