Mega delicious mango – carrot – ginger breakfast shake

Even though I love mixing up my breakfasts, a good, filling breakfast shake remains a firm favourite. It's not only convenient to take on the go, but I find it a lifesaver before a workout class too. I still get my vitamins, protein and fibre in, but I'm not as stuffed as I would be after a bowl of porridge.

I've made a nut shake, a peanut butter smoothie and another peanut butter smoothie before, but I've just discovered something new. And what do I do with recipes that turn out great? Exactly — I share them with you! So you can get inspired and give them a go yourself, if they sound good to you. Lately I'd always been using quark in my shakes, but I noticed my stomach was getting a little unsettled again. No idea whether it's the dairy, but I figured it was a good reason to switch back to goat's yoghurt for a while (which tends to be a lot kinder on the stomach). And a bit of variety is always nice =) I had some carrots lying around, so I decided to throw them into the shake. I also fancied a bit of a kick, so I added ginger. With some tropical fruit and a banana, it turned into an incredibly tasty shake. Definitely worth a try!

Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend until you have a light, airy shake. To get there, let the blender run for at least a minute — that's what gives you the best possible shake!

Prefer fresh mango? Absolutely fine! Fresh mango chunks give the shake a slightly creamier texture, while frozen chunks keep it wonderfully fresh and cold. Both are delicious.

Let the blender run for at least a minute for the lightest, airiest shake. Serve immediately after blending for the best flavour and texture. Here's to a great morning!
