What are the differences between the WMF sets?

The Comfort Line, Function 4, and Quality One have the same sizes: cooking pots of ø 16, 20, 20, and 24 cm and a saucepan of ø 16 cm. Each line has its own unique features:

• The WMF Mini Cookware Set 5-Piece is intended by WMF for a household of one or two: small pots of ø 12 to 16 cm and a maximum of 1.5 liters. They fit into each other, and to see if the water is boiling, you lift the stainless steel lids.

• The WMF Quality One Cookware Set 5-Piece has two low and two high cooking pots under glass lids, and the high one of ø 24 cm holds 6.8 liters.

• The WMF Function 4 Cookware Set 5-Piece has glass lids with a silicone rim and four positions for draining, so you can drain pasta or potatoes without a colander. There is a measuring scale on the inside, so you can measure the water in the pot yourself.

  • The WMF Comfort Line Cookware Set 5-Piece has the same pots as the Function 4, under glass lids with a steam control instead of draining positions.

  • The WMF Compact Cuisine Cookware Set 5-Piece is designed to stack, so the set takes up less space in your kitchen cabinet.

  Soup or pasta for a family fits in the pot of ø 24 cm from the Comfort Line, Function 4, and Quality One. Of those three, the Function 4 is the set for those who drain pasta or potatoes almost every day. If you rarely drain, you get the same size in the Quality One set, which costs less. The Mini is the entry-level set here, but too small for a family.

Can you cook everything at once with a WMF set?

The five-piece WMF sets consist of four cooking pots and a saucepan: enough for cooking, but not for frying. The number in '5-piece' refers to those pots; the lids are additional.

In our range, the WMF Profi Resist Frying Pan Set 2-Piece is the only WMF set with frying pans: two frying pans of ø 24 and 28 cm. Unlike the cooking pots, they have a standard non-stick coating, which is not PFAS-free and can withstand metal kitchen utensils.

If you prefer to fry without PFAS, you can also place one of the frying pans without PFAS next to your WMF cooking pots. Sets of stainless steel that already include the frying pan come from other brands and are listed among the stainless steel cookware sets.

The Quality One, Comfort Line, and Compact Cuisine also come with four pieces of cookware from Cookinglife. If you need to fill your kitchen drawer in addition to the pots, such a variant saves you a second purchase. For the same reason, it is a logical gift for someone who is just moving out on their own.

Do the handles of a WMF set stay cool on gas and in the oven?

According to WMF itself, the promise of cool handles with the Function 4 does not hold when cooking on gas or placing the pot in the oven. On gas, the flame can reach up to the handle, and in the oven, everything attached to the pot gets hot. That promise does apply on induction and on an electric cooktop.

Handles that stay cool are found on the Quality One, Comfort Line, Function 4, and Compact Cuisine; the Mini does not have them. You therefore grab a pot from the gas or out of the oven with a pot holder or oven mitt. With the Mini, keep that pot holder handy on any cooktop.
