What should you look for when buying a food processor?

A good food processor will take an awful lot of work off your hands. Whipping butter for a nice fluffy buttercream is suddenly much easier. You can also knead fresh pasta dough using a food processor. Read on to find out which machine is best for the job.

There are three important facets to consider when buying a food processor. These are; the Mixing bowl , power and the number of settings. In addition, it is good to look at the accessories. If you like to make breads, a dough hook is nice to have. Of course you can also look at the design, with a retro food processor in a cheerful color you have an eye-catcher on your kitchen counter!

Power of food processor

The power of a food processor is important, the higher the power the easier it is to mix, knead, et cetera. If you use the food processor mainly for kneading dough, it is recommended to get one with higher power. With an indirect powered food processor we recommend 800 watts for kneading dough and for a direct powered one it is 300 watts. If you regularly go for the really heavy lifting, then a power rating of at least 1200 watts is recommended for an indirect powered food processor. For the direct-driven one, this is 325 watts.

So what is the difference between direct and indirect powered and why does a direct powered one require fewer watts? With a direct powered machine, part of the motor makes the machine run. With the indirectly powered one more part is in between and because of this it needs more power.

The Mixing bowl

Why do you really have to think about the mixing bowl as an important part when buying a food processor? The material and content and two important reasons. For the material you have a choice of materials such as glass, plastic and metal. When your mixture bowl is made of plastic or glass, you can easily see if your ingredients are well mixed. With a metal bowl of stainless steel, however, you have an advantage when beating protein and cream. This is easy free of grease. In addition, metal is a robust material that is very suitable for heavy work.

The content of your mixing bowl is something to keep in mind when you regularly correct ingredients that increase in volume. For example, think of protein, this expands considerably during the beating. For a nice airy foam you also need enough space. Do you regularly make meringue and pizza dough for the whole family? Then go for the greatest content! If you are more of baking cookies, a slightly smaller mixing bowl is sufficient.

Number of modes

You can go for the simplest version with one on and off, but then you are talking about the minimum basis. However, one preparation requires a slow approach, while the other needs a lot of power. The more positions you have, the better you can edit different ingredients. Fortunately, nowadays you already have an extra intermediate position, so that is three different positions. There are even machines with no fewer than ten different positions. Now you can wonder; What should I do with all those positions? The advantage of more positions is more control!

Are accessories available?

Kitchen machines are supplied with a wire garde as standard. In addition, there are more accessories. Consider, for example, a mixing hook, also called butterfly hook, or a dough hook. The food processor is a device that can do a lot. This is partly due to the various accessories.

Ordering a food processor?

Hopefully you now know a little better what you should pay attention to before you add a food processor to your kitchen appliances. A food processor will at least make it a lot easier in the kitchen. Mixing a nice batter, kneading dough or beating light protein is all without effort. Do you already know exactly which one you want to order? Then look at Cookinglife To buy your dream machine.

The different accessories ensure multiple functions of you food machine. Certain preparations and ingredients benefit from a slow start, but must be mixed briefly and powerfully at the end. A slow start function is so pleasant with an ingredient as powdered sugar, so you prevent your entire kitchen from being dressed in a dust cloud. A high and large mixing bowl helps anyway to prevent everything from escaping from the bowl.
