Method:
Heat a cast-iron griddle (plancha) on the BBQ until it's scorching hot.
Form the minced beef into 8 separate balls (about 75 grams each). Don't overwork them.
Slice the buns open, lightly spread the insides with butter and toast them briefly at the side of the BBQ.
Place the balls on the hot griddle and immediately smash them down hard and flat with a heavy spatula or 'smash' tool. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook them for 2 minutes until the bottom has a dark-brown, crispy crust.
Flip the burgers, place a slice of cheddar on half of the patties and set the other patty on top. Cook for another 1 minute until the cheese melts.
Assemble the burger: bun, sauce, lettuce, tomato, the double-meat party and the top bun.
Round out your barbecue with salads, a baguette and drinks.
And voilà! Your smashburger is ready!

And voilà! Your smashburger is ready!
Smashburgers are at their best when served straight from the cast-iron griddle. The crispy, caramelized crust and the melting cheddar make this recipe irresistible. Make sure your BBQ is very hot before you start, because that's the secret to a perfect smash.
Use minced beef with at least 20% fat for the most flavor and the best crust. The harder you press the ball onto the hot griddle, the crispier the result. Serve immediately with cold drinks and tasty salads for a complete barbecue experience.
