Korean Beef & Rice Bowl (One-Pan Style)
Welcome to the CookingLife kitchen! As a professional chef at Cookinglife, I'm here to help you put this delicious, easy meal on the table. This Korean Beef & Rice Bowl is a flavour explosion in one pan, featuring a soy-garlic glaze and fresh stir-fried vegetables. Savour the layers of flavour — from spicy to umami — for a quick meal with minimal washing up, perfect for busy evenings. At CookingLife we believe cooking is an adventure, so let's get started!
Ingredients (serves 4):
300 g minced beef
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 onion, finely diced
1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
100 g carrot, julienned
300 g pre-cooked rice (e.g. basmati)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon chilli flakes (adjust to taste)
Salt and black pepper, to taste (use sparingly for a low-salt version)
Instructions:
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil once the pan is hot.
Add the minced beef and cook, stirring, until browned, about 5 minutes; break it up with a spoon to prevent lumps.
Stir in the chopped garlic, onion, bell pepper and carrot, and cook everything together for 5 minutes, until the vegetables start to soften and the aromas are released.
Add the pre-cooked rice to the pan and stir everything together thoroughly, warming the rice through and letting the flavours meld.
In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil and chilli flakes, then pour the mixture over the contents of the pan. Stir thoroughly and leave to simmer for 2–3 minutes, so the glaze coats everything and the flavours deepen.
Taste and season with a little salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately in bowls for a fresh, vibrant presentation.
Tips from your CookingLife chef: For a unique twist, this recipe is easy to adapt to your diet. Make it gluten-free by swapping soy sauce for tamari, opt for low-sodium soy sauce and cut back on added salt for a low-salt version, and for a sugar-free option simply leave out the soy sauce or replace it with a naturally sugar-free alternative like fermented tamari. Experiment with extra toppings such as sesame seeds or fresh spring onion for a satisfying crunch — at CookingLife every meal is a chance to create your own adventure! Enjoy, and share your version with us at CookingLife: Where cooking becomes life!\*\*
