Equipment

  • Large pitcher
  • Measuring jug
  • Citrus press
  • Chopping board
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 1.5 litres of water
  • 6 black tea bags (or ±6 tsp loose-leaf tea)
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey, plus more to taste
  • 2 lemons (1 juiced, 1 sliced)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • Small bunch of mint, leaves picked
  • Ice cubes

Classic Iced Tea (Lemon & Mint)

    1. Place the tea bags, sugar, honey and 1.5 l of water in a large pitcher. Steep for 10 min., then remove the tea bags.

    2. Leave to cool, then refrigerate.

    3. Stir in the lemon juice and add the lemon and orange slices along with the mint.

    4. Serve in tall glasses with plenty of ice; sweeten further with extra honey if desired.

Cold brew (even smoother & less bitter): steep 1 tea bag per cup of water (or ±1½ tsp loose-leaf tea per cup) in cold water in the refrigerator for 5–8 hours; strain, chill and finish with lemon and mint.

This classic iced tea is wonderfully refreshing on warm days. Make it ahead and store covered in the refrigerator. Serve in tall glasses with plenty of ice cubes, lemon slices and a sprig of mint for a festive touch.
