This autumn stew is a true classic comfort meal for cold days. The dark beer and apple syrup give the meat a rich, deep flavour. Make the stew a day ahead for even better results.

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, crusty bread or red cabbage for a complete autumn meal. Leftovers taste just as good the next day and freeze beautifully.
